    Tips

    a. Check your air Pressure Once a Month
Maintaining air pressure is the most important part of tire care. Proper inflation can extend tire life and increase fuel economy.
    b. Tread Depth
To prevent hydroplaning and skidding, your tires must have proper tread depth. The minimum tread depth is 2/32nd of an inch, but it is recommended to replace your tires at 4/32nd of an inch for proper traction.
    c. Tire Repairs
One of the leading causes of tire failure is a faulty repair. A recent survey from the monthly magazine Tire Business indicates, 46% of tire failures were caused by improper repair procedures. Of course this means higher tire costs.

    When your Tire Is Damaged
There is a good chance that your tire can be repaired if:
    1. The tire has not been driven on when flat
    2. The damage is only on the tread section of your tire
    3. The puncture is less than 1/4 inch

The most effective method of repair is the plug and patch repair. The plug stops the migration of moisture and the patch on the inside of the tire supports the plug.

    d. Proper break-in will not affect initial performance but will increase the competitive life of the tire.
The procedure can be broken down onto phases.
    1st phase: The initial run
2nd phase: The length of the time the tire is allowed to "cure"

    e. Tire temperature recommendations
For best performance the expected temperature range will vary from track to track. Generally, optimum traction will be generated when the pit lane temps show 180-200 degrees. Check with the tire technicians at the event for the recommendations for that particular track and car combination. Take advantage of the temperature checking station that will be set up during the practice session.
